Project Buyer – Maritime

Our client is a leading international organization within the Maritime industry, specializing in providing engineered solutions for heavy lift transportation and offshore installation. Currently they are looking to expand their procurement department and so we are helping them recruit a new Project Buyer.

  • Coordinate and execute sourcing activities for subcontracted services, including the preparation and issuance of RFQs.
  • Oversee the selection of vendors and suppliers, assessing competitiveness across cost, quality, capacity, service, and reliability.
  • Translate project needs into clear requirements, prepare tender documentation, and ensure effective handover of subcontracts to budget owners and internal stakeholders.
  • Assess offers and tenders against commercial, technical, and legal requirements.
  • Review and negotiate contractual conditions in close collaboration with the Legal Department, covering aspects such as liabilities, penalties, insurance, and taxation.
  • Contribute to pre-award negotiations and support contract completion together with legal and technical teams.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to contractual obligations and project specifications.
  • Deliver timely updates and reports on subcontracting activities to project teams and management.
  • Manage contract variations, change orders, and claims throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of materials and services to project sites.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze market trends for relevant goods and services.
  • Review supplier performance and maintain approved supplier and subcontractor lists.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Legal teams to address disputes, deviations, and non-conformities.
  • Provide subcontracting input to cost estimates and budget development for new projects.
  • Build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key subcontractors and service providers.
  • Apply company health, safety, and environmental standards consistently in daily activities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably with a technical background
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of logistics
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience in the maritime industry is an advantage
